INCOME GENERATION
Conscientious of its responsibility as an advocate for social development, SARPA opted to not mechanizing its harvest. Not to mechanize a property the size of the Belmonte Farm is a difficult economic decision, however a socially correct one. The manual harvesting supplies hundreds of jobs for a great part of the local population in a region that is poor and devoid of jobs.
Each bag of coffee sold by SARPA benefits hundreds of people involved in each stage of its production, from the plantation of the coffee tree to the cup of coffee.
EDUCATION
The Municipal School of the SARPA located in the Belmonte Farm. It started over 30 years and it has since then educated over 1,000 children, inhabitants of the Farm and the neighboring community. Nowadays all the children of the Farm and community are literate in both reading and writing. We believe that education is not only a necessity but a universal human right.
HOUSING
We always kept our commitment in supplying good conditions of housing to our workers interested in living at the Farm. SARPA places at the disposal of its fixed employees and their respective families comfortable housings and lodging. We currently have 11 houses in four different localizations in our property. We supply water and electricity gratuitously, and charge for the rent of these houses the symbolic monthly value of $3.00 USD. Additionally, good standard lodging is offered to all temporary workers that are employed by the Company during harvest season.
